In the Old Testament times, the Israelites were delivered from plagues and from slavery in Egypt through the blood of the Passover lamb. God commanded them to commemorate this day as a festival to Him-a lasting ordinance (Ex 12:1-14). On the Passover day, Jesus Christ saved mankind from this sinful world; He established the new covenant as a sign of eternal salvation and told us to eat bread and drink wine as symbols of His body and blood (Ex 12:12; Jn 6:53; Lk 22:7).

In obedience to the will of Christ, the apostles celebrated the Passover every year and preached the new covenant. However, in A.D. 325 the Passover of the new covenant disappeared from history. In these last days, God Himself has restored the Passover of the new covenant. Now, it is the Church of God that celebrates the Passover of the new covenant according to the example of Jesus Christ.

During the worship service for the foot-washing ceremony, Chief Pastor Joo-Cheol Kim said, The act of washing feet was an example of Christ. Jesus Himself washed His disciples feet before the Holy Supper of the Passover. And mentioning the history of the Old Testament as a show, he explained that the priests washed their hands and feet before entering the Holy Place, so that they would not die.

In the New Jerusalem temple, Mother personally washed Her childrens feet. 2,000 years ago, Peter thought that he was not worthy to have Jesus wash his feet, and said, You shall never wash my feet. But finally he obeyed Jesus and allowed Him to wash his feet. Feeling the same as Peter, the Church members washed one anothers feet, following Christs example of serving.

During the worship service for the Holy Supper, Mother thanked Father for giving us the bread of life on the Passover, so that we can receive eternal life and have the privilege to enter the kingdom of heaven. Mother prayed that we would all participate in eternal life by eating bread and drinking wine with faith, and She also prayed that many souls around the world would return to God and receive a new life by keeping the Passover.

Chief Pastor Joo-Cheol Kim delivered a sermon titled: From a Mortal Body into an Immortal body, and he reminded us of the great blessing of the Passover, saying, Through the Passover, God works the miracle of giving eternal life to men who are destined to die. He told us that we should think and act in a manner worthy of Gods people who participated in the Passover. And he said, In this year, lets save the whole world by preaching the Passover to all the nations that have not yet heard about the new covenant with the heart of Christ.

Eating bread and drinking wine that represent Christs flesh and blood, all the participants engraved in their hearts the great love of Christ who sacrificed for sinners. They gave thanks to God for granting them salvation and making them the heirs of God through the Passover, and committed themselves to quickly preach the Passover the good news of life throughout the world.
